Sad Spears: Britney to Blame If She Loses Custody of Kids?

Brit to Blame?

By Hollie McKay

Just as pop princess Britney Spears has been trying to twirl back into “The Zone” of success, her father Jaime has hit back saying that it’s her own fault if she loses custody of her sons and careers her rep into ruins.

In a statement released to the New York Post, senior Spears sticks up for Brit’s former manager Larry Rudolph whom the singing sensation fired for such things as pushing her into “Promises” rehab and introducing her to perennial party-girl Paris Hilton.

"When Larry Rudolph talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done,” Jaime Spears told Page Six. “She was out of control. Larry was the one chosen by the team to roll up his sleeves and deliver the message, to help save her life.

"The Spears family would like to publicly apologize to Larry for our daughter's statements about him over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, she blames him and her family for where she is at today with her kids and career. Larry has always been there for Britney. For this, we will forever be grateful to him."

But the reformed rehabber has put her father’s feelings down to a lack of love and understanding.

"I am praying for my father. We have never had a good relationship,” she told the paper via her publicist. “It's sad that all the men that have been in my life do not know how to accept a real woman's love. I am concentrating on my work and my life right now."

Spears also reportedly feels as if her former manager put her into a compromising career “Crossroads”, as a pal told the Post that she was simply suffering postpartum depression and didn’t have any issues with alcohol or drugs when she was pushed into “Promises”.

And when it comes to Britney and “Shears”, it has been suggested that it was just an act of guilt rather than a reflection of profound personal problems.

"Britney's aunt had just died of cancer,” the Spears source added. “She was feeling very guilty because she hadn't been there with her, she was overwhelmingly depressed and she shaved her head in solidarity."

So while Brit and her brigade are busy telling the public why she laid off Larry, the man himself has instead skipped out of the spotlight.

"Britney obviously has a lot of issues ... Larry's trying to lay low and letting her act out, but ... he doesn't want to see her wind up like Anna Nicole Smith,” a Rudolph friend confessed to the Post. “He won't get into a public fight with her — yet. This is about saving her from herself."
